Easiest Way to install ADB drivers on Windows, Linux and Mac OS

I wanted to make this as a part of my previous Guide on Forgot Password: How to Unlock Android Phone Go head and read it if you want to. But in future, I will be covering more of Flashing and Android related Guides. So, It would be easy for users to Navigate rather than searching for it in one big article.

This guide will be covering How to install ADB drivers on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

What are ADB drivers?
Android Debug Bridge (adb) is a versatile command-line tool that lets you communicate with a device. The adb command facilitates a variety of device actions, such as installing and debugging apps, and it provides access to a Unix shell that you can use to run a variety of commands on a device.

Here Device means ‘Android Device of course’

What else can you do with them?

This rarely comes into play when you have all control over your phone. Then what’s the need you ask? Yeah coming to that When you have no OS installed on your Android Phone this ADB functionality will be your savior.

Trust me on this, When you are Flashing or Rooting your Android Device many mistakes happen for sure. Because we Ain’t Perfect. No OS installed on Android Device! that sounds terrible, right? But it really isn’t that bad a news. You know why? Because of ADB and Custom Recoveries.

Receive and Send Files even without any OS installed.

Backup and Restore Data on your Phone without any OS installed.

Partition your Disks on an Android phone (which I personally don’t recommend doing).

and much more to name here.

In past, people who wanted to install these drivers have to go through a lot process. Not that it’s difficult but these drivers were only available bundled with other Android Developer tools which makes the package a big load of more than half a Gigabyte.

But now these are separately available for installation and package is less than 4mb. Anyway, I am Providing you with some alternatives for installing these drivers. If you have some trouble installing one of them then try another one.

Method 1: Install Drivers for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS

  • Head over to this link here
  • Select the Package according to your Operating system.
  • They are in Zip Format so unzip them.
  • Install the program as you would Normally.

If this method doesn’t work then try these below.

Method 2

Install ADB drivers for Windows

  • Click on the button below to download the file.


  • Open it and click that ‘Y’ button a few times.
  • A new installer will open and proceed with the default options.

You are done!

Install ADB drivers for Mac OS

  • Open Terminal. Copy and paste this code.
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
  • This will install a Program called Homebrew which is very helpful for Mac users.
  • Now copy and paste this Code into the Terminal.

brew cask install android-platform-tools

And you are done installing ADB drivers. It’s that easy!

Install ADB drivers for Linux

  • Open terminal. Copy and paste the following code.
bash <(curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/corbindavenport/nexus-tools/master/install.sh)

Believe it or not, you are done! By the way, this command works for Linux, Mac OS, and Chrome OS too.
